Garage Door Left Open? Get a Nudge Before Bed.
If a Ring camera can see your garage door, Lookwell can check it. It compares the door with your own pictures of it open and closed, and tells you when it’s been left open.
Every feature is included: 14-day free trial, then $3.99 a month, billed by Ring.

How It Works
How the Garage Door Check Works
Draw a box around the door in the camera’s view (Lookwell suggests one) and save a picture of it closed and one open. With just one picture, it asks you once when it sees something different.
At night (9 PM to 6 AM by default) an open door gets an alert. Any time of day, so does a door left open for 30 minutes. You can change both.
It looks twice, five minutes apart, before it says anything, so a door you’re walking through doesn’t set it off.
The alert has “I’ll handle it”, which tells the rest of the household it’s taken care of. Reminders follow if the door stays open.
Two doors? Each one gets its own check.
What You Need
- A Ring camera with a clear view of the garage door
- Snapshot Capture turned on for that camera (required: Ring app → Devices → the camera → Device Settings → Snapshot Capture)
- End-to-end encryption off for that camera (Ring can’t share encrypted pictures with apps)
Good to Know
- A dark, blurry or blocked picture is reported as “couldn’t tell” instead of a guess.
- Lookwell can’t close the door; it tells you, so you can.
- Checks can be wrong. Lookwell isn’t a security system; don’t rely on it for safety.
